THERMOGRAPHIC SURVEYS

THERMOGRAPHIC SURVEY IN THE AERONAUTICAL, NAVAL, INDUSTRIAL, CIVIL AND MILITARY FIELDS

The thermographic survey is a diagnostic technique that exploits the physical principle according to which any body with a temperature greater than absolute zero emits energy in the form of electromagnetic waves.

The instrument that transforms the energy emitted in the form of electromagnetic waves into a digital signal and thus into an image is the thermal camera, which provides a thermal mapping of the framed surface.

Compared to other investigation methods, thermographic analysis offers the following advantages:

  • It is a diagnostic technique that exploits the physical principle according to which any body with a temperature above absolute zero emits energy in the form of electromagnetic waves;
  • It is a non-invasive and non-destructive technique as it does not physically intervene on the object of investigation.
  • It is fast and does not require closing the sites where the investigations are carried out;
  • It is possible to operate inside an industrial plant without interrupting the production cycle or inside a building without evacuating the area under survey, in complete safety;
  • It is possible to precisely plan interventions and related costs, which increases safety and prevention.

When performed regularly, thermographic inspections allow for the timely detection, with a high degree of reliability, of anomalous temperatures and energy losses that may indicate a malfunction, thus preventing the occurrence of a fault, the outbreak of a fire, or an unexpected machine stoppage, and thereby reducing maintenance and repair costs.

It is possible to carry out hull inspections by identifying areas of moisture, any cracks, delaminations, or more simply by searching for any internal structures in the composite such as chainplates, bulbs, etc., or otherwise invisible fastenings

Thermography is used for the non-destructive detection of defects on composite material

The thermographic inspections will be carried out by AVIOTECH technicians certified Level 2 of the UNI EN ISO 9712 for the infrared thermography method.
